1. Scope

This policy applies to the Rovalta website and services.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They let a site remember your actions and preferences (such as staying logged in or keeping your language) over time.

3. Which cookies we use and why

Rovalta keeps cookie use to a minimum. This is what may be stored on your device:

• Strictly necessary: a session cookie (rv_session) that keeps you signed in and secures authenticated requests. The Service cannot function without it; it is set only after you log in.
• Strictly necessary: a consent cookie (rv_consent) that records your answer to the cookie banner so you are not asked again on every page. Retention: six months.
• Functional: a language-preference cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) that remembers your chosen language.
• Statistics: a self-hosted audience measurement on EU infrastructure that counts page views in aggregate. It runs on all visits, sets no third-party advertising cookie and shares nothing with ad networks. It does store a random visitor identifier in your browser's local storage, which lets it recognise your browser across visits.
• Statistics, with your consent: the same tool collects detailed statistics about your journey (pages viewed, scrolling, clicks) so we can see where it is hard to use. Nothing is collected until you accept it in the banner, and what you type into form fields is excluded.

We use no marketing, advertising or social-media cookies. The banner therefore offers no “Marketing” category: it will appear only if such a tool is ever actually used.

4. Your choice and how to change it

On your first visit, a banner asks what you accept. Today it covers a single category, Statistics, which controls detailed statistics: those stay off until you accept them. Aggregate visit counting runs on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used.

You can change your mind at any time through the “Cookie preferences” link at the foot of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: the page reloads so the tool in question stops immediately.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a refusal: nothing optional is loaded and the banner is not shown.

5. Managing and deleting cookies

You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary session cookie will prevent you from logging in and using authenticated features. Deleting the rv_consent cookie brings the banner back on your next visit.
